What are social networks doing to us? With Facebook turning 10 years old this year, it has been a whole decade since social networks started changing the way that people interact with each other. Are the effects that they are having on us positive or negative?
It has been one thing for adults and already socially developed people, but what effects will it have on the developing generations? Will they always use social media as a crutch of their lives?
One thing is for sure, is that it is different. I am a fan of social networks, in the history of the world inventions that allow us to access information faster have pushed the world forward at exponential rates. Just speaking for the 20th century, the Train, Automobile and Airplane have done wonders for the world. Then came the internet, which blew everything else away. The next step was social networking, which gave everyone great power to have information on their friends, and put their ideal image of themselves in front of the people that they knew, or didn’t know.
But with great power comes great responsibility. Have we been responsible?
